Recording |
In reality, there are so many ways of recording music that it would be impossible to have them all in one manual. To begin with, as a general guide, you will find the manual produced by Shure Microphones very useful and certainly worth downloading. More details can be found on the Shure site. You have two recording tasks to accomplish during the second year of the course: - close mic recording of a variety of instruments - vocal recording In both cases it is important to practise your skills: record as much as you can before you do your coursework. As always, choose a model or a reference for your recording. By that I mean a professional recording that you would like your own recording to sound like. You will have some references of your own, but in the listening you do in class, you will begin to understand some of the things you need to think about. Remember, a recording is not just a case of setting up a mic and pressing 'rec'. You have to have an end product in mind before you start. |
