Listening |
Listening is a crucial part of the course. The reason for this is that we need to begin to listen to music not as consumers or fans, but as producer/engineers. This is quite a different approach but over the weeks we will begin to develop techniques to help improve our listening skills. One area you can begin to research are studios and record producers. The following link to recordproducers will help you track down studios in the UK and in USA and link you to interviews with producers.
In the meantime, listen to as many genres as you can, check out the details on the CD case, investigate the studio on the web and try to work out how you would achieve the same sound. You can download the listening guide to help you. Don't forget to listen to things in the studio - it is really important to get used to the acoustics of that room.
