Welcome....

To the unofficial TA225 site for 2006. If you have a link to this site, it hopefully means you are a member of my tutor group for TA225. If you've followed a link then welcome anyway, please feel free to browse, read, and then join the course next year!

I hope that the site will provide a useful noticeboard/help site for your studies this year. It is something of an experiment and your feedback would be welcomed. Several other tutors supported their students using similar sites, I've put a link to some of these. For the moment, not all the items in the menu are active: they will be over time. This site is intended to act as an additional means of communicating information and it is not instead of the TA225 course site. You can link to the TA225 course site by clicking the TA225 title at the top of the page.

On the whole, the course is self contained. However, last year there were times when students needed support, information or guidance on further reading/research which was not readily available. I hope the website will be a useful tool for communicating and helping your studies. To begin with, I've put the tutorial information on the site just in case you can't make it (or you want to check that it's worth the effort!). By now you should have had your first mailin of course material.

I do hope you can attend the first tutorial - it does make a difference seeing everyone. Unlike other TA225 tutorial, we (there are two groups) have adopted a day-school approach so that both groups can meet. The dayschools allow us time to become familiar with the course software as well as having a chance to make music using technology. Most of the tutorials will be in Leeds, but the second dayschool will be in Scarborough where we plan to create a CD in a day.

I look forward to meeting you at the first tutorial.

Good luck on the course.

Bob.
