Block One
Block one is concerned with the nuts and bolts of sound. There are a few things that may need explaining.
Firstly, you need to think about your study skills. There's a lot of information to be taken in over the course and if you haven't used maths for a while, you may find it difficult. Don't be put off but be prepared to set some additional time to work through problems. You might find that something like decibels needs quite a bit of time to work through. Do e-mail me with difficulties and I'll try to help.
Secondly, for those people coming from music/arts background, technology courses demand a slightly different way of thinking. Last year I had a philosopher on the course and he was very interested in 'why' things happened. It was an interesting approach.
Finally, you may need to work through other material before you understand the course text. This is not a reflection on the course text, more a reflection on your understanding of a new subject. In the physics link you'll find some other sites which cover similar material but in slightly different ways.
