Audition....
At some point you will receive the software and booklet for Audition, a powerful piece of recording software. The difficulty is usually in finding the time to familiarise youself with the software. Remember, you don't have to know everything in the programme but there are some useful features which are worth exploring.
Do try recording your voice/instrument/the cat/dog/pig... and see what you get. Then try to cut the sound and reverse it, fade in/out etc.
Try to generate a tone. Go to generate tone and you can play around with the frequency etc. When you open the 'generate tone' window you will see 'duration' at the bottom and you might like to play with the f = 1/t. Playing in this window will hopefully help your understanding of the course software and of how waveforms and harmonics work.

4. When you've selected everything, you should have the waveform you wanted. You can select/highlight portions of the waveform by moving the cursor over the waveform. If you press |
