Music
................is all around us. I thought at first I'd suggest some of the interesting things I've been listening to. You know the type of thing, albums, artists, stuff like that. Then I thought I should put my own music here. But then I thought again.
Forget the music, let's go for sounds. Find the quietest space you can. Stick your fingers firmly in you ear and sit and listen. Now, that's an interesting sound: this is where it all begins.
John Cage (indirectly) taught me that one. I've taught it to countless other people during my time masquerading as a font of wisdom. Fortunately, nobody listens... they've all got their fingers firmly stuck in their ears.
If you get bored of listening to blood, electronic circuitry and wheezy pneumatics, then try anything with an accordion in it. The effect is similar, but the groove tends to be more energetic. Forget route 66, get your kicks from Kletzmar or go tango at http://www.gotanproject.com/
If that doesn't work, then get yourself a teenage daughter and I promise you that the soundwaves circulating your house will never be yours again.
